Another advantage of ASP's is that because they are web based, other devices that you may own are automatically in synch since they all read and write data to and from the same point source. Hi James, I agree with the "web based" statement you made. This is the reason why I say that the browser is the platform, not the OS. The moment that the browser comes up, plug-ins fall right behind. What are plug-ins? They are nothing more than applications developed for browsers. This is where Linux shines and VxWorks fails. This is also the reason why Intel is pouring money into a near death company, Lynx, for its RTLinux technology. For the same reason, Liberate is porting its software on to TiVo's Linux platform, AOL is choosing Linux for its web pad, and Transmeta is using Mobile Linux. I agree with you that ASP seems like a good way to go, but so was Java considered the technology that was going to knock out MS Windows. ASP is a good concept, but it's not clear how fast and pervasive it will be in mobile computers, and it's even less clear to determine if ASP would level the playing field against Palm OS, EPOC, and CE. Meanwhile, Palm OS is setting itself up as the default OS for mobile computers. Regards, Khan
