The strong opinions on both sides of the FED rate hike issue is what makes it interesting... : >

For a number of years stock market cycles have been compressed on the downside... I believe it is because information is almost instantaneously available to be acted upon via the internet... So, I don't see those old fashioned protracted 6 to 12 month falling knife type markets unless something really bad economically happens... That doesn't seem to be the case right now... Greenspan is not getting any younger... I don't believe that he wants to leave a legacy of a severely depressed market... So, I think we are closer to the end of rate hikes than the prevailing sentiment believes because a lot of damage has been done already... Even if the FED went neutral at the next meeting we should see the effects of higher business costs weigh on profitability... That's why I think a 1/2% rate hike would be the final FED adjustment for a while... Let's see...
