Fith all due respect to fleck, 2000 America is not 1989 JAPAN. There are definetly problems and excess's here but they are not even close to the ridiculousness that occured in Japan. In Japan like the 20's the market correction was followed by poor Government policy and a weak banking system. It is a debatable question if There is that much more to go on the downside for US equities(15-20%). If there is, it will come back much faster then in Japan. The fundimentals are much sounder here(though far from perfect).
