Gary, RE: Barrons, I believe, has made a calculated mistake.

Oh, I dunno. Barron's has made some excellent calls in the past, and has also made some absolutely horrid calls in the past. It neither receives credit for the good calls not scorn (at least any long lasting scorn) for the bad calls. Heck, GE has probably quadrupuled since Barron's called it a hedge fund in drag. In contrast, Barron's also was highly accurate in calling the bottom in the energy markets. Nobody remembers either call now.

The main reason I subscribe to Barron's is that it gives me a good window into what is the mainstream thinking on Wall St. The quality of the opinion doesn't really enter into the equation for me.

Gary, you are 100% correct, in that Barron's is out to sell copies, and I've noticed in recent years that it has become a "sensational" tabloid, with front page headliners! I'd be interested to know their batting averages on their predictions, as only Novell sticks out in my mind, as they said the stock price would quadruple from $20, at the time. The stock is currently selling at 10+ down 50%! We all know Cisco sells at at high multiple, but always has, and always shows why it does! We shall see why again Tuesday after the bell! Until it let's it's shareholder's down I'm in!

Howie

Yes, they will sell some papers today, but if they are wrong (especially with a call like this one) they will not sell them again. "Once bitten, twice shy".

If this were true then no one would have paid attention to Elaine Garzarelli (however you spell that) for very long. A single good call is remembered and touted for years, while numerous bad calls are quickly forgotten.
