Pace to work with Microsoft on digital TV LONDON, May 8 (Reuters) - Britain's Pace Micro Technology Plc, which makes set-top boxes for digital and satellite television, said on Monday Microsoft Corp (NasdaqNM:MSFT - news) had agreed to work with it to develop related technologies. Pace shares rose after the announcement by nearly nine percent to 815 pence by 1420 GMT. The two companies already have a five-year cooperation agreement, and Pace said the new deal would build on this. Pace announced a ``far-reaching memorandum of understanding'' with the giant U.S. software company to develop a wide range of applications and enabling technologies to meet the rapidly expanding demand for digital television. ``The memorandum of understanding includes plans for Microsoft to adopt Pace's digital set-top box technology as a core reference platform for digital television applications,'' it said. biz.yahoo.com

Under the agreement Scientific-Atlanta will supply Charter with products including 1,300,000 Explorer© 3000 digital interactive set-tops and 200,000 DOCSIS cable modems, subject to certain conditions, over a two-year period. Broadband Services will support Charter in rapidly implementing these new networks and products.
