I think it's a reckless ideal; what will we do when millions of foolish "investors" lose their retirement money in a volatile market????? That bailout would dwarf the bank bailout of the late 80's and early 90's.

Tiger, the point is that Republicans lead by George Bush want people to have the freedom to invest a portion of their social security if they see fit. Why would you or anyone be against such a plan?

Check out this article....I hope you're proud of your Democratic brethren. Did you see little Elian left the Democratic fundrasing event at 9:40pm. That means he must not have gone to bed until well past 11:00pm. Some bedtime for a normal 6 year old.

Who Are Those Drugs For?
John LeBoutillier
Monday May 8, 2000
By now you have read the reports that a Cuban doctor dispatched by Fidel Castro to visit the Gonzalez family at the Wye River Plantation was stopped by U.S. Customs officials because he was carrying prescription drugs and is not licensed to practice medicine in the United States.
Two drugs of a nefarious and worrisome nature were confiscated. They were both extremely strong tranquilizers.

The obvious question is to whom were these drugs going to be given?

It seems logical that Castro dispatched this modern-day Dr. Mengele to Maryland to drug up little Elian to convince the boy that he no longer wants to stay in the United States. The Castro/Clinton Axis wants to trot the boy out soon to publicly state that he wants to go home to Cuba and the loving arms of El Jefe, the great father figure of that wonderful island paradise, that still-surviving example of all that is good about communism.

And Clinton and the lawyer he shares with Castro, Greg Craig, have carefully scripted each move. When the Atlanta Appeals Court issued a new order prohibiting the boy from being taken to any Cuban diplomatic post that may have diplomatic immunity, Clinton and Craig simply took over Andrews Air Force Base and allowed the Cuban security forces free access to it.

Similarly they have now set up a mini-Cuban Mission at the Wye River Plantation. (A great line from a hilarious Tony Kornhiser column: "The Wye River Plantation is like no other plantation Juan Miguel has ever been to!")

While the American people are denied even a peep at this boy and his reunited family, these Cuban Gestapo agents are driving to and fro all over Maryland, all the while in direct cellular phone contact with Fidel himself.

Then on Saturday night a most unusual occurrence: a motorcade carries this Cuban family into Georgetown to the private mansion of a hugely rich Democrat, Smith Bagley, a longtime liberal fund-raiser. Greg Craig, formerly of Teddy Kennedy?s staff, was in attendance.

What in the world would bring the Gonzalez family into the parlor of a scion of a huge tobacco fortune who, by the way, inherited all his money. Hardly something that a "good communist? should approve of.

Except for one thing: liberals are total hypocrites! They may idolize Castro?s Revolution, but they don't give up their millions to join, do they?

Can't you see Juan Miguel and his wife as they perused the lavish furniture and artwork in the Bagley residence? Can you imagine the conversation between these two humble Cuban peasants who live in a two-room house in Cardenas so filthy that fish live in the gutter that runs in front of their front door. What must they think when they see the bathrooms in a Georgetown house? Flush toilets, hot and cold water and clean towels. In the Gonzalez homestead the bathroom consists of two holes in the floor.

All the ostentation at Wye and now at the Bagley residence could have an effect on Juan Miguel, no? Could this be why the doctor rushed to the states with a little black bag crammed with drugs designed to put someone into a stupor?

Could it be a coincidence that this week's tabloid The Globe reports in a story citing "highly placed sources" that "ELIAN'S DAD ASKS TO STAY IN AMERICA"?

This potentially blockbuster story is indeed in a tabloid. And, yes, these publications are sometimes wrong. Of course so, too, are the mainstream papers, magazines and networks. Remember Richard Jewel?

These weekly tabs often are ahead of the mainstream media.

This story claims that Juan Miguel and his family now that they are reunited with Elian want to stay here. They have grown to love the food, the freedom and even the television at the Wye Plantation. The article claims that Juan Miguel has "been secretly talking to government officials to find a safe and easy way to stay. He wants to raise his reunited family here not in Cuba!"

This article states that Juan Miguel is "under intense pressure from Castro to return with the little boy in tow. It would be humiliating for Castro if he defected."

Indeed it would. In fact, it would be the single biggest blow to Castro's rule since he stole power 41 years ago.

Perhaps this explains the hurried trip by the doctor to the states. It raises a key question: who were those drugs for? Elian or Juan Miguel?

>>G. Bush Jr. has announced that he wants to put 2% of each "upcomming" retiree's social security money in the stock market. The details are secret but that seems to be the gist of his plan. Who here is 1) depending on social security. and 2) thinks that the last guarenteed pension should be replaced by the cafeteria plan?(sic)

Yes, it parallels what Federal workers have had for years. Let's see if automaton AlGore, aka "Junior", can scare the stupid more than he already does the smart.

And yes, AlGore even got caught lying again, saying that he and Clinton were never for investing Social Security money in the stock market. That, of course, was a major Clinton regime proposal not so long ago - about the time they scuttled reform. I remember that Greenspan came out against that reckless Clinton-AlGore plan, for obvious reasons.

Look here, the edgykation administration doesn't know were KY and TN belong:

I'll bet AlGore is in charge of maps now that he has solved Russia and education. <g>

I just got and spent my first Social Security check -- $4,160 --- I hope to get one like that every month. What burns me is I am still paying maximum FICA taxes.
