That is the goal of these.. I was going to call them socialists but what the hell why not call them what they really are - communists. Who but a communist could admire the Gulag Cuba?

Why don't we just be really, really safe and turn over all our life energy to the federal government in order for them to invest is safely?

I will admit that I count on investments to fund my retirement much more than I do social security. I am worried about the effect of variations on the market for those retirees who are primarily counting on social security. Just read these threads to see how edgy people get when the market is not going up. If the entire base of senior citizens gets edgy there may be additional pressure for the government to prop up the market, or individual funds, or otherwise guarentee payments (much like crop supports). I don't think Bush Jr. is up to the task.
