Jozef,

What DDR motherboards have been on drawing board for as long as RDRAM? I am not aware of any chipset for PC type motherboard prior to the year 2000, so I don't know why a motherboard would be on a drawing board in absence of a chipset.

You hit the nail on the head. My statement was about the fact that the basic DDR technology has been on the drawing boards since 1996 at least. Yet there are no chip sets and no motherboards for it. Someone has apparently been asleep at the switch. Or maybe, as AMD implies in their press release, it's not going to be very stable and not all products may work together.

If the performance differences between DDR and RDRAM prove to be as negligible as the differences between PC-100, PC-133 SDRAM and RDRAM, Rambus may still survive and prosper if RDRAM prices match DDR, IMO. Do you think RDRAM prices will match DDR within the next 6 months to 8 months?

I think you have a lot more to worry about than prices, if AMD's press release is any indication.
