Telia signs a contract of 90 million with Alcatel and Nokia
for the fast Internet

STOCKHOLM, May 9 (AFP) - Telia, the Swedish public operator of telecommunications, signed an outline
agreement of 750 million Swedish crowns (90 M EUR) on the fast Internet with the French equipment
suppliers Alcatel (Paris: 13000.PA - topicality) and Finnish Nokia (Paris: 5838.PA - topicality), brings back
Tuesday the Swedish news service TT.

The contract relates to the delivery of hardware in Telia CarrierNetworks for the construction of lines of
access to the Internet with high flow of the type ADSL, specifies TT.

At mid-March, Sweden decided to invest 17 billion crowns during four next years in a wiring of its territory
intended to provide a fast access to the Internet to all, an infrastructure considered as major strategic
equipment by the government.

Last year, a governmental commission had quantified to 80 mds SEK the cost of a national network with
broadband offering a flow from 10 to 100 megabits a second (Mbit/s) in the two directions. The connections
with the Internet by modem via the fixed telephone lines are currently limited to 56 kilobits a second
(Kbit/s).
