DWB,DH...

I think you guys have just stated the core of these economic debates, that the consumer is becoming a more informed and smarter shopper all the time. This can only continue as the internet levels the playing field. With increases in competition smaller markets have less control in dictating what the consumer has available to them and for what price.

But I guess taking 5 minutes to improve the quality of ones life while being financially prudent does not apply to some peoples economic analysis. It seems to me that if instead of running around to several different stores to "shop" a good price and then finally capitulating on "whatever i'm given", that the time and emotional frustration saved should somehow be factored as an asset of some sort. I still believe I accomplish more in 1 day than a person living @ the turn of the century, and that goes to PRODUCTIVITY. There I go again with that $5 education!

Hello DWB,

I go food shopping every week. Basically, beef is up about .10 to .20 a pound. Milk down from $2.09 gallon to $1.83 or lower. Fruit, apples from $1.39 pound to $.99. Lunch meat about same price for last couple of years except when on special, then about $2.00 pound lower.

I've been trying to pay close attention to pricing since Greenspam has been saying there is inflation but really have not found much if at all. The case has been just the opposite.

Bought a gas grill to replace the one I brought 6-7 years ago. Back then paid a little over $200, Sam's Club, last week paid $198 at DIY for the same grill. Only difference the new one does not have a heat gauge and I never used it anyway.

I brought my mom a TV for Christmas. Paid $229 for 27" picture is great, at Best Buy! Last one I brought for her was 20" at $325 and picture was good.

I have less confidence in Greenspam everyday. I really don't want someone trying to run the economy, look at 87 and 94, who doesn't understand the impact technology is having on it. He is really hurting the little guy who was just beginning to have a little breathing room. Don't like that at all.

Then again no one cares about the little guy because the people who have money, Greenspam, are insulated from the economy.

Thank You

JK
