o/t Razor.... why the "Patch" ?

Hmmmmm; Well my first entry into active trading vs. just throwing money into the 401K & mutual funds; was the start of 1998.

Quite sadly; my first portfolio - was ALL tech & internet and was loaded with the following CMGI AOL DELL YHOO MSFT CSCO INTC among others - all tech and internet. I thought the internet "thing" was going to be huge - sadly I only held that portfolio for about 6 weeks.

I became convinced that this was "too speculative" - that the Internet "thing" was overblown and that value & old economy was the way to go, if I were to "trade".... went to Steel , Financial and the Oilpatch.

How WRONG that turned out to be - had some "10 baggers" from that original portfolio that I sold way, way, way too soon....

At the end of 1997 into Jan 1998; the blow off of the Oilpatch into what was then, phenomenal earnings; was what attracted me to the Oilpatch as the best "value" in the market - I was right - as I caught the March to May run of the Oilpatch, but then soon learned there was a "downside" to this little cyclical sector (VBG) - and had to learn to trade via baptism by fire...

That 1998 "June Swoon" - which bled into August, made me learn fear, caution, respect and to have a quick trigger finger on the profit taking button. Studied like a grad student - read everything I could out of necessity to survive that summer of 1998 meltdown - I got hit hard, very hard. Clawed my way back by active trading on the banded ranges of the OSX in the fall of 1998 thru the recovery of 1999.

... Been hooked ever since... and Stricly Drilling - the Big Dog, yourself and some of the old timers were THE best of SI... it was hard to leave - I guess I've become the "bad penny" that won't go away now (VBG) ~ right "Q" ?

Once you go "Crude" you'll never go back - right ?
