Poet, I was just thinking about longing QQQ LEAP puts.... been tracking a few and seems to work out pretty well if you can get by the horrendous spreads. I've had mixed results with QQQ regular puts... but maybe I wasn't ITM enough - and lingered a little too long. Still learning...

Tried shorting the QQQ common - but with it being on the AMEX - aii yiii yiii ... they take forever to fill you - drives me nuts.

At any rate , for the most part , have just been collecting LEAPS (long calls ) on BVSN, BRCM, JDSU, CY and CSCO... keeping my fingers crossed that we really are not going into a protracted bear mkt. just in case, I started buying the 02s on the last few.

Re: leaps puts sold, I repositioned my JDSU June 110s and 100's--think I mentioned that here, but will replay. It was looking weak and the down day yesterday seemed a good time to buy back all open positions on JDSU and sell the 02 110s. They were about $50, much richer premium than Junes of course, so I was able to reduce open put positions in half, releasing a bunch of margin collateral but coming out basically even. Of course, I have to wait much longer for decay, but it allows me to still come out ahead.

In general I don't enjoy selling leaps puts because I get impatient, it's a long time frame to tie up collateral.
