To prove the case that satellite communication is still essential in spite of celullar coverage just look at the acceleration of Omnitrac sales last year. Qualcomm is selling the Omnitracs at the rate of 60,000 a year. These are cellular units that cost between $2000-3000 to trucking companies. Qualcomm has been selling Omnitracs since 1987.
And the latest year sales are higher than the 40,000 a year they were selling in previous few years.

Why doesn't Anthony go and warn those trucking companies to use cellular units? The fact is that when a company really needs the satellite service for business critical use $2/min is no big deal. Look at how hotels rip you off on phone calls. But executives pay anyway.
