Kenith, my broker put me on 50% margin because they consider me a "day-trader." In the six months I've had my account, I've only bought and sold a position *once* within the trading day.

I have a feeling that some discount brokers fill option orders outside the exchanges by trading from their own account, because 80% of their customers lose money on options. When I started trading options with my firm I noticed that
1)I never got anything between the bid and ask
2)My bids or offers were never shown, even on their own quotation system

Then, when they realized I was making money,
1)My orders always appear on the exchange or internal quote system
2)I often get something between the bid and ask, or "price improvement" (order filled better than your limit)
3)Some of my orders are "followed" after their execution, especially visible on the thinly traded stuff.
