Yes, most unelected public officials do their best to honor their oaths. But they still have their opinions about things, and that is what makes justice unequal.

I agree with you. Federal judges are appointed for life so that they will be immune to the political pressures of partisan politics. (how alliterative of me)
All this hoopla about Bush-appointed, and Clinton appointed, and the implication that these judges are in the pockets of the party and somehow tainted... is missing another interpretation. By their nature, ( and probably the reason they were appointed)they tend toward a viewpoint that leans more one way than another, toward conservative, or toward strict interpretation, or toward liberal or whatever. They may be completely impartial, but their decisions will be influenced one way or another by their own interpretation of law. I don't see it as bias, or dishonesty, or a failed judicial system at all.
So Miss Naive, color me with the same crayola. And a lovely color it is.
