Great post. Thanks for putting things in perspective - a refreshing change form the back and forth squabbles on this thread.

Excellent summary John! I might only add option 4: G*'s revenues will ramp up higher than expected in the 3rd and 4th qtr from several sources: China, full Brazil, the Carribean, fixed sites, cruise lines, large verticle client orders (Airtouch says those orders req 30-60 days to close. Svc commenced on 2/28 as far as Airtouch is concerned), Russia, airplanes, and automobiles. I think OnStar is a very real possibility. Because of these factors, the ptrs will pony up cash if needed to cover short-term needs.

Maybe this scenario isn't as likely as the others but it is the one BS seems to believe will happen. Of course I realize now that what BS says and believes presently has about as much credibility as some of our new found friends, foes or whatever that have recently graced us with thier wisdom. I think the possibility exist that BS and crew will ultimately redeem themselves in spades.

John, I would correct one point in your outstanding treatise:

ICO appears likely to emerge from BK, and if present plans are executed will be a competitor to G* starting in late 2002--a competitor that plans to offer higher data rates than G* and phones that work indoors--so it's something to keep an eye on.

What's remarkable about it's planned ressurection is that Craig McCaw is willing to bet some 500M$ of money he controls that he can raise another 2B+ in the public markets in order to get this system deployed--a system that, IF it retires a tremendous number of regulatory, launch and financial risks--will go after the same market that most G*bashers deny exists.

This is pretty strong confirmation that CMcC believes the market exists and that G* will succeed (because if it fails even the great McC will have difficulties raising 2B$)

John - one more (tiny) correction to your excellent post.

I think the Zenit rocket that (literally) "crashed and burned" was carrying 12 (not 8) Globalstar satellites.

(Also -- the Zenit rocket did not "blow up on launch." It blew up a few minutes into the flight).

(I am aware that this is getting real "nit-picky").

Jon.
