By the time we made the top of the new slopes it had begun to snow and it wasnt exactly a light snow fall. We sat out for about an hour waiting for the snowing to pass but it only got worse. We agreed to go ahead and take it slowly back to the bottom before we got stranded up there for the night. It was at this moment that Cisco noticed Beras eyes. He asked me what she had been doing. I looked at them and knew that I had to tell him the truth so I told him about her being in his bag and about the drops.
.

Cisco carefully examined her eyes and told me afterwards that the only drops that he had in the bag were drops that made ones pupils dilate. He also said that the bottle was full of a mixture that was suppose to be a delusion 5 to one but was in its full strength form. He also said that it could cause damage unless we got back to the chalet and he was able to use something else he had to neutralize the drops so now we had no choice but to go down the hill but with more urgency under these new circumstances.

His main concern was her ability to see on the way down this steepest ever hill. Needless to say I was concerned as well but I was beginning to get a bit ticked off at him for leaving his bag out near the table where we were last night. I was blaming him for this and did for a long time.

It was time to get started and the snow wasnt letting up any and time was not on our side.

So Carolyn you can see how this had begun to get out of control.

As we began our decent the steep angle of the mountain took all of us by surprise. It was like we were almost in a free fall the first few minutes. I was never so scared in my life. Occasionally the terrain would slow us to down some but the weather had decayed to a point where we couldnt see more than 10 or 20 meters in front of us so we couldnt tell exactly which direction would have been the best route to take.

It became very apparent in the first minute that Bera was having a hard time judging angles and distance. We were up so high and were in a very dangerous area that my heart was racing. Bera was becoming out of control and she began to get way too far to the west. I knew what the map said was in that direction and had also read the warning signs at the bottom of the lift. Then the worst possible thing that I could have imagined happened. Right before my eyes she just vanished. At first I thought it had started to snow harder and I just couldnt see her because of the snow storm but I was wrong.

Bera skied right off of the side of the mountain. The drop in height was about 7,000 feet so she never had a chance. Looking back on this Cisco and I were lucky that we didnt share the same fate. So now you know.

I have some photos of Bera as well as Cisco and myself from that trip which I will upload and show you in a little while. And no I no longer blame little brother for the accident. No one could have stopped what happened on that day in the Austria.

This is MIT btw in case youve never seen it.

Bera had some glamour photos taken while we were at MIT about a month before we left for the ski trip. I love her hair in these shots;

This is a shot that I took of her during the time I was teaching her to ski. She was always ready and willing to play;

And finally a nice shot of Cisco and I at a resort. We really had a great time on the islands;

She loved this song;
