Wayne, Doesn't anybody remember the inflation of the 1970's?

My most vivid memory of those days is that you were always in a hurry to buy stuff, because you knew that if you didn't buy it today, it would cost more tomorrow. This was especially true of anything with a significant price tag, like a TV, car or real estate. You would save like crazy for things, then buy them, the idea of saving just money was crazy, it was something that was losing value against goods and services that you needed.

A different psychology than today, though that type of thinking is creeping into the real estate market in some areas of the country. Homes selling above the asking price.

Still, I think the expectations of most folks is that if they wait, they can get a lower price (or better performance) on their purchase of a digital camera, PC, digital TV, maybe even their car. That's right now, I suppose the perception can change very quickly.

My mother just a got a letter announcing a 10% rate hike in one of her supplemental medical policies.

To quote:

"The increase in premium by US Life was deemed necessary due to ... increasing hospital medical and prescription drug costs."

But Kudlow says there is no inflation because gold is in the toilet.

Wayne, crude oil is up from around $11 to $30 in one year. Cost of Housing in the NE are around 10% in one year, healthcare expenses over 6%, food also but there are arguments on that.

Only memory chips and CPU's are lower.
