Mike,
How do you know that a stock of yours has soared high "primarily as a result of momentum players"? This sounds like potentially useful information for one who wants to sell uncovered calls.

Lindy may or may not disagree, but I think the Russian Army approach is primarily a momentum play

I don't know how to totally objectivize this. I think of Russian Army as a way to reinforce your choice when the market is agreeing with you. I may have 4 stocks that I think should all go up, but the market only thinks one should go up. Who am I to fight the market?

On the other hand, I got trapped by this method when we had the tech runup March and the crash in April. The ones I added to gave me the worst beating.

What I do find interesting is that my top 25 portfolio, and my QQQ, are down about 28% for the year, while my G&K portfolio is down about 19%.

Mike, Thanks for sharing your thought process with us. It is indicative of a man with an ordered life and sense of priorities.

Given my experience of increasing my positions in SEBL, GMST, NTAP and JDSU in late Feb and early March, I wish we had had this valuation discussion sooner.

Come to think of it, you and Bruce have been talking to us about this for the last 6 months. We probably were listening very well.

There is a well worn cliche about "Experience helps improve one's judgement, but it only comes from having used bad judgement in the past." which probably applies here.
