Irrational exuberance has changed "three hikes and a stumble" into "6 hikes and a stumble". Or, if that doesn't work, then 7,8,9,or 10 hikes and a stumble. Mr. "I hate the wealth effect" has said so.

heinz,

are there any situations in which you would dump your gold and silver shares? say for example, that the alternative (bull) wave count on the spx appears to gain traction and the dollar maintains strength, would that motivate you to exit your positions in the precious metals?

it amazes me to realize that C and GE are within spitting distance of their 52 week (and all time) highs. MER is not far off either. it really is mind boggling from my perspective. nevertheless, i have built fairly sizable positions in the precious metals, and have more or less decided that the best tack is to add further on weakness. the downside risks still appear small, especially given the possibility of some macro event that could shatter the complacency as evidenced by the performance of the fiancial stocks such as C.

on the other hand i could just be flat out wrong and the best place to put my precious dollars is in financial-sensitive issues at this juncture in history. after all the market is always right, no?
