Re: She rates AMD just a BUY not a STRONG BUY

Perhaps she actually wrote "AMD might be the single best play on robust personal computer sales in our coverage universe, but personally I don't think so" and the end was accidentally edited out?

John: <<she still rates AMD just a BUY and not a STRONG BUY. Maybe that will change soon.>>

Given the biggest let-down AMD handed over to her in Q199 (Erika was the biggest AMD bull then and had a Strong Buy as well), It's OK for her to hedge by maintaining "Buy" rating with a lot of strong words between the lines in her report.

My concern with her is that how much clout she would have on the street?

At best, in terms of clout, she ranks somewhere in the middle among 10 plus analysts covering AMD.

So, reaction from the street tomorrow may not be that positive as we are hoping for.

John re <<Even so, she still rates AMD just a BUY and not a STRONG BUY>>

Does that firm have a "strong buy" rating? Not all firm have that. Instead some have a "focus" or a "recommanded" list which only a few stocks in the whole equity market are on it. And I am not sure if any analyst can put a stock on that list, it needs some sort of approval from senior partners or analysts.

niceguy, re:<Kudos to this analyst for her unabashed AMD optimism!> Even so, she still rates AMD just a BUY and not a STRONG BUY. Maybe that will change soon.

Petz,

I also was surprised that her price target was $135 given how optimistic she is.
