Dell is paying far far less than anyone thinks.

I understand this part. Dell's cost of RDRAM is less than $400. But why sell it for $400, if people are willing to pay $500 - 600 (based on the spot prices)?

Whenever you see a flaw in market prices based on which you could make money with no risk (buying from Dell, selling at spot prices) given frictionless marketplace, there is something is fishy.

If Dell was trying to gain market share by undercutting the competition, given Dell's advantage of low cost of Rambus, why doesn't Dell just build the reduction in the base price of the system instead?
