I have previously heard the opinion that China has just been yanking QCOM's chain for MFN. I do not see how outsiders could have a perspective on this (other than that the overwhelming evidence heretofore in China has been pro-GSM), but it seems that the industry will not be too surprised. QCOM, and QCOM investors, may be surprised, though. Well, just you wait: the huge Chinese GSM network is just one huge opportunity for a cdma2000 overlay!

Tero,

I'm crushed!

"This post is dedicated to Peter... you now have further evidence to support your little pet theory about monstrous "Nordic sadism" directed towards innocent Americans!"

I just suggested you had a grudge against Qualcomm. I didn't realize that it extended to Americans in general. In retrospect I can't remember you saying anything positive about any American company, or any American for that matter. I really don't think you are xenophobic, possibly Qphobic. It is unfortunate that Qualcomm developed a technology that finest Nordic talent can't master, but please don't hold that against all Americans. Keep in mind that many of us Yanks have Nordic ancestry.

Thanks for the dedication.
Pete
