>>Is this the kind of announcement the company would save for the annual meeting?<<

It is the kind of announcement that would be saved for an annual meeting of a host of different companies. Whether or not this is SDLI's style, I do not know.

The shareholder vote to increase authorized shares is almost definitely a signal that a split is in the offing. The announcement may come at the meeting -or- sometime between now and next earnings.

Regards,

LoF

So we have another day where sdli's runup makes jdsu look like gm or att. Somewhere, somebody (ies) has decided that not all fiberoptic companies are the same and seems to be anointing sdli for some special treatment. Okay with me.
If that annual meeting has a split announcement and/or any other positive news this thing is going to take off like a rocket again.

Good info on the Lucent connection. Yes, splits are announced sometime after approval from the board of directors. They must approve the split. My guess is if the market holds up reasonably well on Thurs/Fri, we should see a split later this week or early next week. A 3:1 would be a blockbuster but based upon their last split, its probably a 2:1. I am not in it for the split, but it tends to attract the monetum players. I am in it for the potential buyout from Lu, Csco, or Glw. If Cisco buys the company, I will happily exchange my shares for Cisco's.
