While not directly related to ADIC, this just shows that money is still flowing into technology....

SAN JOSE -- With stock markets floundering and the chip business booming, venture capitalists pumped $266 million into U.S. semiconductor-related startups and companies in the first quarter of 2000, according to a new report from PricewaterhouseCoppers

Venture-backed investments in U.S. semiconductor and chip-production technology suppliers grew 412% from just $52 million in the first quarter of 1999. This year's first-quarter investments were 29% higher than $207 million in the fourth quarter of 1999, said the PricewaterCoopers Money Tree Survey.

However, semiconductor industry investments were dwarfed by first-quarter funding in Internet-based companies. Venture capitalist poured $10.8 billion into Internet companies during the first quarter vs. $1.9 billion in the same period last year, according to the survey....snip..
