Re: the use of USB allows the port replicators/docking stations to be far cheaper

Bill,

With our setup, there's no need for a docking station. The monitor, speakers, and power plugs into the back of the notebook. There's one port for either a mouse or keyboard, but we have something called a "Y cable" that acts as a splitter and allows you to hook up both. So the only extra part we need is the "Y cable" which can't cost more than a few dollars.

We have a network drive that we're supposed to use for important files. This drive is located on an AS/400 and is backed up nightly. So if worst comes to worst, you only lose one days work. I'm not sure, but I actually think our network drive is mirrored, so 2 failures would have to occur for you to lose a days work. We haven't had a drive failure yet so I'm not sure.

That kind of setup is getting more common

I agree, that's why it is important for AMD to have a chips throughout the mobile segment (high and low end).
