In this environment of concern about valuation all stocks are susceptible to heavy sell-offs. HLIT is no different! What people have to ask themselves is, "how long am I prepared to hold this stock." If the answer is "long term" then the choice is obvious. The fundamentals of Harmonic are such that over a 5 year period of time this stock should perform very well. If the answer is anything other than "long term" then one must evaluate the technical damage that has been done to this issue. Clearly supply has overtaken demand for the short term which means HLIT can expect a real bumpy ride. The traders left today on the technical damage that took place. However, once the Fed is out of our face then and only then can HLIT hope to challenge the 52 week highs. This may be a while but if you're a long termer I think the results will pay off.

Shorts trying to cover have created the panic. Look at this: messages.yahoo.com Though this is an unreliable yahoo link, SGCowen has not come out forthright and said anything about reducing the growth rates. It is the thought that they are going to reduce it that has caused this panic selling. Some big shorts took advantage. Who caused the news to spread? Mainly Briefing.com. Later on others such as MF started saying the same thing. The media is pathetic. They don't do any research. Look at the fundamentals of fibre. It will grow. HLIT has Charter and T and others and are growing at a good clip. You have listened to the CFO. He is essentially saying that this is a fire sale.
