In the New York metro area, teachers' salaries are relatively high, but so are real estate prices and taxes.

as a small example, where I live, one can buy a 3000 sq.ft. home for less than 150,000.

In the paper this morning....

<Victorian, 4 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath, 2 living, $149,900.>

Not to say teachers are living in this type of home here, but you get the idea, as I suspect a comparable home in New York would be what? 300k? 400?
