speaking of commuting....

Today I drove 27 miles from VA (work) to MD (home) and it took a little over 1.5 hours....

wmal.com (live)....

If u want to get an idea of Washington DC traffic tune in... i had to cross the 'wilson' bridge.... I took some shortcuts that take you off the freeway and onto city streets. if I had stayed on the freeway (outer loop) i'd still be (not moving)...

One time (about a month ago) traffic was very very bad, and I got off 5 miles before wilson bridge and noted the truckers around me. I went to the local marriot, made some phone calls (no cell phone), ate an apetizer at their bar. got back in the car did street driving thru alexandria and eventually crawled back onto the freeway. And guess what, the same trucks were right there. It had taken them 2.5 hours to go all of 4.5 miles.....

traffic here in DC is pathetically slow and congested.

The president never has to get stuck in traffic like this.

I think this would be a good idea for the country (us) and for its people. Add an admendment to the constitution or pass a law that says Every 50 years the capital of the united states would move according to a simple formula:

Locate the midpoint, by population, of the US.

Every 50 years the new capital of the US becomes that midpoint that is weighted by population. It would get rid of the government bloat and we wouldn't have to spend millions of dollars building monuments to ourselves. Instead over time, we would have a lean government. And they'd be used to sleeping in tents (or perhaps apartments).
