We really should live next door to each other.
I LOVE recipe books and have a huge antique piesafe filled with them- from my mother's antique, coverless, and much-splattered Joy of Cooking and Fanny Farmer's Original Boston Cooking School- 1896 to strange and wondrous local publications that I pick up when we travel, like the Greek one, or the Dominican Republic resort Casa de Campo. I have one from exotic Bali and one called Southern Appalachian Mountain Cookin', and one from the Great Restaurants of Paris, from which I have never made ANYTHING - except apricot tart. One of my favorites is the Dallas Opera Guild Cookbook- because it has recipes from the famous stars who have sung here. And explains why so many of them are-- hefty. I love the way they name their recipes after themselves...
