Is any software or PC safe from saboteurs?

My husband's office PC has been hacked into when he ran Windows, when he ran LINUX and most recently when Sun Solaris 7 was on it. In the most recent break in, his PC was trashed completely, along with 700 others. Probably, most of them ran Windows. (They didn't catch the Luv Bug Virus. This happened in March.)

As far as his trashed computer, he learned that LINUX could be installed and probably Windows. He didn't want either but he will settle for a SUN Workstation and hope for the best.

Sincerely,

Mephisto
