Bell Microproducts and Industry-Leading Storage Technology Manufacturers Launch Seminar Series to Educate Resellers on the Latest High-Performance Fibre Channel and SAN Storage Solutions

Technology Fair to Demonstrate Solutions to Meet the Increasing Demands

Of Next-Generation Storage Requirements

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Bell Microproducts, Inc. (Nasdaq: BELM), the world's largest storage-focused distributor and provider of storage solutions, has introduced the Bell Microproducts Technology Fair, an educational forum designed to introduce resellers to a variety of emerging technologies. The current Tech Fair venue, part of a series of quarterly seminars, focuses on a variety of storage networking components and their roles in the design and assessment of next-generation storage solutions.

Featuring industry partners in the fields of RAID, Network Attached Storage (NAS), Fibre Channel connectivity and tape automation, Tech Fair representatives will address the merits of their latest technologies and their functions within the implementation of total SAN solutions.

"The technology fair provides a solid foundation of objective product knowledge and brings value to the interpretation of Fibre Channel networking innovations and RAID and SAN solution implementation," said Phil Roussey, executive vice president of worldwide marketing, Bell Microproducts, Inc. "By reviewing the role of each of the featured components, this Technology Fair explores a range of possibilities in SAN and other storage solution alternatives."

The current venue of the Technology Fair features some of the industry's top storage component and Fibre Channel connectivity manufacturers, including MetaStor, Ancor Communications, JNI, Crossroads Systems, Maxtor and Overland Data. Representatives from each company will present key product design concepts within their respective product categories, with emphasis on individual product roles in SAN implementation. The seminar will also provide the technical information needed to design and assess Fibre Channel interconnects and storage solutions based on available components.

"We are excited to work with Bell Microproducts in making the Technology Fair a huge success," said Scott Ruple, vice president of marketing, JNI. "Our Fibre Channel products have diverse appeal and can be implemented into and across a wide range of operating systems and network configurations."

The Technology Fair is targeted at IT engineers, network architects and resellers who will be responsible for developing today's data-intensive storage solutions. Attendees can take away a broad-based roundup of knowledge on several of the building blocks needed to create a comprehensive storage solution.

"SANs represent a huge opportunity for resellers to bring added value to their customers," said Nancy Kuehn, Ancor's director of channel marketing. "The more knowledge about storage networking resellers possess, the more innovative they can be in crafting unique solutions for consolidating and managing customers' data. Bell Microproducts' Technology Fair is an effective forum for exchanging that knowledge."

Bell Microproducts is hosting this series of Technology Fair seminars in Irvine, Calif., Houston, TX, and Philadelphia, PA from May 10 - 24, 2000. For further information regarding the Technology Fair and to register for a seminar in your area, visit www.bellmicro.com.
