MIAMI -(Dow Jones)- 3Com Corp. (COMS) plans to develop 3G wireless technology that provides Latin American countries access to
the Internet through cell phones.

In a press release Thursday, the maker of wireless technology said its 3G (third generation) mobile systems technology focuses on
Web-based software, IP telephony, broadband access and wireless technology.

3G technology is scheduled for release in 2001. Total spending in wireless technology in Latin America is expected to reach $17.1
billion by 2005, according to Desdner Kleinwort Benson research.

Apologies for delay in replying - away on a trip.

As far as I know, there's nothing to prevent any company from acquiring a significant position in PALM or COMS. There's an SEC reporting requirement once that ownership gets above 5% though, so it would be common knowledge, even to we small individual shareholders.
