From my understanding, the ShopNovell site is built upong eCential's e-commerce storefront software (java-based) on top of IBM's Websphere platform.

It's all Netware 5, BorderManager, ICS running the infrastructure with Netscape Enterprise Webserver hosting the web content. I wish I had more details for you but there was a really fantastic presentation by the eCential people at BrianShare2000.

I'll look into who to contact regarding that setup if you wish :)

My notes from Brainshare indicate they do have this

The DirCommerce presentation included a mechanism for using the directory to price services and products as permissioned objects. Moreover there was a direct credit card billing mechanism built in and demonstrated with automatic payment via a third party internet cc transaction processing company.

It was presented as something the Novell Consulting group could set up via ichain. I have no idea otehr than what I read from QuadK's post about the current ASP marketing plan.
