Will the ASP suite really be cross-platform?
The Business Week piece says that the new ASP solution will run on NetWare, NT and Linux. UNIX left out for a reason?

Once you have NDS on a target platform (e.g. NT), can you then load the other pieces on that platform (the article says secuirty, caching, and policy management) without buying NetWare?

A next question will be the ability of applications used by ASPs to take advantage of this infrastructure. Will the applications need special hooks or connectors? One more thing Novell can do to restore credibility is to better associate/integrate its products with the most important applications used for eBusiness, such as Oracle's extended family of eBusiness applications, Microsoft, SAP, Siebel, BroadVision, etc. The March First (formerly Whittman-Hart, Perot and Deloitte partnerships were going to yield these solutions for CRM, ERP, but we haven't heard much about what they're doing with NDS.

Even when third parties get involved, Novell has trouble talking about solutions. This is something they will have to do more of to strengthen their image. The recent Copenhagen press release was a great start. Every week we should get a press release about How Novell, its partners and customers are solving an eBusiness problem. This will be much more valuable than the product and technology announcements, the NetWare Connecitons magazine for CNEs, and the product/technology Novell.com features (today's exciting headline is something called "NMAS," God help them)on which Novell squanders its marketing resources.

This stuff is not that hard, Novell. Novell plus partners solves eBusiness problem with Net services and One net. But you must be willing to change your old ways of singing to the choir and wasting money.
