What is the process?

Do you have to be looking to give someone control, or does it happen little by little?

You obviously don't understand the process of gaining control of another.

Actually I have a friend that is a former Moonie and through her I have come to understand the process fairly well. The first thing the cults do is to cut off all contact between the prospect and their family and close friends. Then they tell you your life is terrible and everything you know is wrong and replace it with the beliefs of the group. The group than becomes the person's family and only influence.

This is also happens to be the same technique that other "mainstream" religions use in their training religious officers and priests. The armed forces uses a similar technique in basic training.

I also know from my friend who is the former Moonie that it is a certain personality type that is attracted to giving up control in this way, the majority of the population has to be subjected to extreme physical duress to give up control. Usually cult members can only be rescued from the cult by replacing the "cult" leader in that person's life with another "cult" leader. If I were you this last sentence would set off alarm bells in my mind.

jduffy - I have been around this thread from the start. Ah gave me advice too. Sometimes right, sometimes wrong.

I learned to make my own decisions and treat him as anyone else.
Name me anyone that can predict the market.

I don't mean to be nasty but if you can't make your own decisions you really should not invest. There are lots of other choices. Do mutual funds or an index or a HOLDERs. These instruments can be very targeted. If you are not comfortable doing your own DD, you are just going to get slammed again and again.

BTW, you don't need to wash your dirty laundry in public. We all know you made a mistake. It is really getting old.
