Ish,
I have ridden the waves in the Gulf of Mexico. That can be fun if you are not the one that has to clean the boat and shine all the chrome to keep it from rusting. It can also be a bit on the hairy side when a sudden squall comes up and catches you 10 miles out. If you didn't already know how to pray, the lesson comes quickly.

One of my problems was that whatever bait I put on whatever hook, the fish didn't like what they sensed and wouldn't touch it, while others around my were pulling them in as fast as they could. The best fishing trip I was on was, when 4 of us went out in 2 boats and separated to find the "perfect" place where they were running. My boat mate and I had no luck at all in Copano bay, and were going to head in when we saw a shrimper headed for home. It is against the law to buy shrimp off the boat but, we pulled along side and my buddy opened the 30 gal. Igloo and pulled out a 5th of Jack Daniels. While he was handing it to the Captain, a crewman was shoveling shrimp into the cooler. By the time the other boat came in, we were sitting on the dock popping the heads off shrimp, and were just as happy as clams.
