Does anybody here think that maybe the reason for Legato's sales force problems is that they have been getting whipped by VRTS and had to resort to playing games? Or was it mismanagement and salesman trying to juice up their commissions?

I was there for the NETA fiasco. This does not feel similar. Admittedly, VRTS is a selling machine and I shouldn't trust Mark Leslie as far as I could throw Mt. Shasta. Having said this, I am not hearing that LGTO is losing high-end deals to VRTS. What I am hearing is that some of the salesfolks resorted to a "Try it, you'll like it" style rather than old-fashioned selling based on the customer's needs.

These people have been shown the door. Others have left because things are easier and cheerier elsewhere--understandably. What I see as the company's challenge in the next several quarters is hiring savvy salespeople to market superior products; what I am hearing is that LGTO's technology is far superior, but it has to be sold.
