What do Argentines think of the European move to limit the number of foreign players that can be fielded by European sides? ? I kind of like things the way they are: I like the idea of giving players from Latin America, Africa, even Asia the chance to play for big money, I like watching them play, and the idea of Chelsea fielding an entirely non-British side amuses me. But some in Europe are appalled.

Much anticipation there for the Valencia-Madrid showdown?

Hi Steve...

My apologies for not responding earlier, but I have been busy in matters of real life, (as opposed to the SI Universe) --I wonder sometimes which one is more important *g*-- and in addition with matters of trading.

--By the way, I suggest to all the machos in this thread, if you trade, (I assume all of us do some of that indeed, trading should be familiar to us all, since the origin of this Universe comes from he trading world and not the socio-economic-political scientologism that this thread, [and dare I say, "others", out there], tend to delve in), that you take a look at EMC Corp (EMC - NYSE). This is a stock for people with psychological BIG COJONES (Please gringos, note the correct spelling of the word)-- It is truly a trader's dream, both as an underlying asset AND its related options (as in calls and puts).

BUT YOU HAVE TO BE GOOD AT TRADING, HAVE BIG BALLS (mentally speaking), AND DAMNED FAST.

Anyway...

As for the questions at hand...

What do Argentines think of the European move to limit the number of foreign players that can be fielded by European sides?

Frankly I do not know what the opinion is, however I suspect that they would prefer a more open frame of mind since there are several Argentineans playing in Europe, but the truth is I personally do not know, I will try to find out.

My personal opinion, being a free-thinker (with little regards for rules) --except, don't kill, don't steal and the like...

I think flags, nations and all border protectionism should go to hell, in other words: May the best man (woman) win, anybody should be free to play wherever the other guy wants to hire him/her and play TO HELL WITH QUOTAS.

I think the same.

Hey, if the Europeans had a "free for all, I am going to civilize you brutes" while the colonies was the "high tech craze of the time", well, then, it is the turn of the former "colonials" to have their chance at it and at least have the opportunity to show their stuff, if they are good, let us all watch them.

Besides, why not expand and have European teams (players), go play in the sun for a change ?

To this day I still wonder why in the US soccer has not exploded as I, (at one time), expected. Wouldn't you think that the US would be a great venue to the best soccer players to show their stuff ? Screw the Europeans, the US would be a great showcase, (but we need the audience).

Yes, THAT would be funny... -- ALL THOSE "FOREIGNERS" PLAYING IN AN ENGLISH TEAM -- he he he he...

A sort of vaccine against English paranoia against "foreigners". ha ha ha ha ha...

As for being "appalled" oh well... they will survive.

I do not know abut that one, I have not seen much in the press here, they are consumed in the local championships and the Libertadores de America Cup. But as soon as any of those teams will face any of the locals then they come into focus.

If I find more later, then I will report.

Later.

p.s. Argentineans reds (Cabernets and Merlots are excellent, forget the Malbecs). As good as the French and Californians, (and in some cases even better). But Chardonnays... while "ok" Californians are better. -- But this may change with time and some learned technologies).

No, Aunt Karen, "I am NOT under the influence" (too early for that).
