the best longs are found in what you term "bear mkts". Similarly, the best shorts are to be found in periods of giddy euphoria. There are quite a lot of firms with excellent balance sheets selling at attractive multiples of earnings, even using "old economics" benchmarks. Finding them now is easier than it was a couple months ago. Investors should welcome the opportunities.

your short! cnbc on the weekend show mentioned jdsu is hitting the road next week visiting the investment companies and they expect the stock to jump. Buying some on Monday may not be a bad idea. John

szabel, Your posts reflect the intellectual depth of a child's wading pool. I notice that you are a new-comer to SI and have only posted in the JDSU thread. Hence, I conclude that your inexperience is why you mis-understand the purpose of the thread. Here it is: the purpose of the thread is to rationally discuss the future prospects of JDSU, and to have a little fun at the same time. Personal attacks and child-like "na, na, na,..."-statements are not part of the purpose. You are to be congratulated on your stock market potency. However, please change the attack-style or go to a different thread where that sort of approach is part of the purpose. Personal attacks are not wanted here. Ciao, David Todtman
