Hi Frank,

My Covad/Verio 144 ISDL was out from 6am to about 7pm today. The fix was the Covad person cancelled and re-provisioned my line with PacBell in about three minutes of typing - no truck roll.

Frank-- I agree with much of what you say. I don't want
to turn this thread into a BellSouth bashing session but
I believe BS, as the ILEC, is not much different than the
others, say PacBell. They failed to adequately provision
the DSL infrastructure to support the service and in general
lack the competence to do so. All are overly bureaucratic
and none, as far as their ISP activities, like DSL service,
answer to ANY PUC. I know that in FL very well. I believe
that the ILECS need oversite in this arena. I also have the
opinion that the ILECS were forced to offer this token DSL
BB service in order to fend off the onslaught from cable. I'm sure you remember the other golden opportunity the ILECs
had-- B-ISDN. Now they all have another opportunity to
screw up--- DSL.
