OT...Rather than going to electric vehicles a lot could be done to make American cars smaller and more fuel efficient, like cars in Europe or Japan. This requires no new technology or major changes in lifestyle. Planning US cities so people aren't forced to drive huge distances to work and shop would also be a good idea. OTOH the arabs are in a way just as dependent on us as we are on them. What else are they going to do if they can't sell us oil for $$$ ? We ought to remind them of this and demand that they keep oil prices at reasonable levels.
