Hi jim kelley; Re power consumption data and Samsung and Micron...

You wrote: "by extension you are calling everyone including Samsung and Micron liars because of Anand's temperature test. They also have published on power consumption data that does not agree with you.

Nowhere in Micron's literature did they ever claim that RDRAM used less power than SDRAM. The reverse is common knowledge in the industry.

Perhaps you refer to the dramreview article that quoted SDRAM power consumption figures from Micron:

The data for this analysis comes from a presentation at Platform 2000 by Micron Technology. Micron designs and manufactures SDRAM, DDR, and RDRAM, as well as PCs, so they are in an excellent position to understand the complex analysis required to arrive at an accurate estimate of power consumption.

The Micron presentation is only available to attendees of the Platform 2000 conference, with some of the summary slides reproduced here for completeness. If you are interested in seeing the entire presentation and didn't attend the conference, you can try contacting the conference organizers.

Micron's power consumption figures for DDR are published on their website. There is no need to go about contacting conference organizers to get the numbers. The paragraphs were written by the dramreview l:@~& in order to obfuscate the issue, not illuminate it. Here is the data sheet from Micron:

As far as calculating power consumption from the data sheets, go ahead. You've just illustrated the fact that you don't even know what frequency DDR graphics chips are running at, (see: #reply-13748899 ) why do you think that anyone will believe your power consumption figures?
