Ciena and a few of my other profitable long term holds started out as being day trades...<g> Here is a post I wrote last night-I thought I had posted it before going to bed, but found it in "preview purgatory" this morning.... >>These total system buy-ins require much more deliberation by customers because a decision now may well determine their supplier for years to come.<< The more I think about this statement, the more I question it. It has been my limited observation that these optical systems being put in now are gravitating to an open standards model that may not by definition lock in a "supplier for years to come".... (An article about these standards was posted a couple of posts back..) Furthermore, I am seeing more and more customers use multiple vendors-a phenomenon which should require more interoperability, no?... This is just my opinion, and any comments, corrections or opinions are welcome by all.
