But a Pentagon official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said early indications suggested the planes may have been heading to Cuba to land, pick up people and fly them out of the country.

I've read that those planes we're dropping leaflets, apparently a capital offense in Cuba.

I've heard various speculations as to what los Hermanos del Rescate are really up to with their planes, and the word 'drugs' has come up more than once, i have no idea what basis there is for that. Also, some years ago there were light planes flown by the CANF-types which dropped incendiary bombs into the canefields and sugar mill areas in the seasons when the cane would burn easily. Imagine the reaction if Cuba sent planes to do that to the US.
