I disagree that the mafia is the highest stage of capitalism. Even capitalism's detractors have to admit that there is mass positive production under capitalism. What does the mafia produce? A more apt comparison is the mafia with the government. They both engage in protection rackets and extortion. The government has now taken over gambling, once the purview of the mob. I don't know about your government, but our government has people whacked that are inconvenient.

Speaking of Italians, what do you think of the Roberto Calvi murder case? That was an intriguing story until it went down the memory hole. As I remember, he was found hanging under the Blackfriar's Bridge with his legs tied behind his head in some kind of Masonic ritualistic manner. A strange ending for a high profile international banker.
