Hi Rambi, my thoughts...

1. I believe the best thing which could happen to the boy would be for him to stay in the United States with his father and be raised in freedom. Unfortunately, it looks like our President and Justice Department are doing everything they can to prevent that from happening.

2. Contrary to the certainty expressed by numerous people on this board. I don't believe any of us knows what Elians father wants for his son. He has been basically under Cuban house arrest since his arrival in the U.S. The fear people have toward a marxist government like Cuba is well known and expressed often by those who have escaped. And it's the height of naivete to not recognize its potential influence.

3. The Justice Departments action to capture the boy were completely unwarranted. Not only was it illegal, it was immoral to frighten a law abiding Americans home, and scare the wits out of a young boy the way they did. To call them kidnappers, like I've seen on this board, is ludicrous in the extreme. And only goes to show how easily people can be whipped into a frenzy by the mainstream presses perpetual sound-bites.

4. The government couldn't have handled this case any worse than they did. By first sending the message that it would be handled in Florida family court, and then reneging on their promise that the home was not going to be broken into, they committed a grave offense against our liberties and lowered whatever trust some of us still have toward our government.

5. The Clinton administration ensured the sale of hundreds of thousands of rifles and guns by their careless disregard for honesty, integrity and the fourth amendment. Could they have given fanatical groups any more ammo than they did to recruit more people?

6. When you combine Ruby Ridge, Wacco and the Elian case, the strings of power are dangerous in the hands of people without virtue.

That's about it...

Have a great day Rambi.

Michael
