Okay, I am not really trying to fight with you. Since we were not specifically discussing Social Security, nor did I specify much about what production values I would favor, you can't really get much mileage out of that one. Let us suppose, rather, that we were discussing the pros and cons of Nato expansion, with all of the history and military theory and speculation on the progress of events in the East, and so on. Do we want a bunch of talking heads, or do we want animated maps, historical footage, full- color charts, and the like, to set up any subsequent discussion?

Well, maybe you think that it is just willful ignorance that keeps people away from Meet the Press. I think it is because, unless you are a wonk, it is boring..........

If people are motivated to learn, you don't need fancy aids and gimmicks to get the job done.

On the other hand, if you think something is important, but your audience doesn't, you need fancy entertaining stuff to bribe them into listening.

I think your argument stems from the fact that both of you have different audiences and purposes in mind.
