you're right i haven't noticed. the SPX/DOW/OEX and especially the NYA are barely off their all time highs. it's only the highly speculative NAZ that's in bear market status. but if you simply disregard the y2k liquidity induced blow-off and look where it is compared to a year ago, it's still a lot higher. that's a mighty strange bear market.

admittedly the a/d line and the non-market cap weighted VGY can be said to be in a bear market since April '98.
i'm also prepared to admit that it is therefore a strange bull market as well, since the majority of stocks has been in stealth bear mode for so long. many of the market internals are not in bull market confirmation status.

still, i'd like to see the big cap SPX leaders crack before i call this a bear market....
