My guess at the time was it might have been Jaime Brockett. He did a number called "Talkin Green Beret Super Yellow Hydraulic Banana Teeny Bopper Blues"

Don't recall the tune Z...but it sounds interesting.

All American Boy........I do remember that song (faintly). As I recall it was a somewhat sardonic country&westernish take on one man's futile and shortlived taste of fame?

Two artists who have been subjects of posts on this thread have birthdays to be noted...Artie Shaw yesterday and mr. marks man Bobby D. today. Mr. Dylan hits 59 today. A youngster compared to Mr. Shaw.

Thanks for looking into that song. I still haven't found it, but have not given up.

I looked into Jaime Brockett on Amazon, where they have a section "Customers who bought titles by ------ also bought titles by these artists" thinking i might find a lead, but no luck. Did a yahoo search and found this:

at the bottom there is a 14 min Realaudio of Jaime "singing" The Legend Of The U.S.S. Titanic, and thought you may want to listen to it. There is also 92 min of Quicksilver Messenger Service at the Filmore in 68. I bookmarked it and i will listen to it later.

As long as we're talking rare stuff, i finally found a John Kongos CD (to replace a battered album) with the song "he's gonna step on you again". Ever hear it?
